The Instrument & Gauges Electronic Limited Tank Content Gauge is an extremely robust and reliable instrument which provide a continuous reading without power or manual pumping. It is suitable for all types of liquids, ranging from foodstuffs to caustic acids.
Fully waterproofed and made in all stainless steel, the gauge may be mounted inside a building or in exterior locations, and it will give many years of serviced with no maintenance.
The gauge operates by sensing the pressure head of liquid in a tank. A sensing capsule containing an inert gas transmits pressure through a capillary tube to a diaphragm in the instrument head, operating a mechanical pointer.
Four alternative methods are available for mounting the sensing capsule in contact with the liquid to be measures. One of these, ref. TG 180, incorporates a special capsule with a smooth surface, mounted flush with a flange. This version is easy to clean from inside the tank and does not harbour contaminants, so it is favoured for foodstuffs and liquids with high solids or those which may solidify on cooling.
The gauge will operate in open or closed vented vessels of any shape or size, each being individually calibrated to customer requirements. For pressurised vessels, please enquire.
Instrument head: Flush mounting with backstrap or 3 hole fixing requires clearance hole to take 160mm instrument body, or may be surface mounted.
WATERPROOF PROTECTION IP 65 to BS5490. The instrument head may be mounted in interior or exterior locations.
| External mounting at base of tank. The capsule may be contained within a housing (ref. TG 130), usually supplied with a 3/4 BSP female connection to fit a male thread. Alternatively, a special version for use with foodstuffs or high solids materials is available (ref. TG 180), with a plain smooth capsule built into a standard bolted flange for easy cleaning from inside the tank. | Capsule inside tank. The sensing capsule, within a housing, is fitted to a protective support pipe, containing the capillary tube, which is lowered in and bolted to a tank top flange. (ref. TG 140 for those fittings in stainless steel). The support pipe may be up to 7 meters long. Alternatively, the capsule is fitted to a bracket bolted low down to the tank side, and A semi-rigid capillary tube utilised (ref. TG 160 for these fittings in stainless steel.). |
